What does Federation Tiles Factory specialise in?
Federation Tiles Factory manufactures federation and tessellated tiles in-house. We help with pattern selection, borders and colours, with professional installation across Sydney and Newcastle and tile supply Australia-wide.
Typical projects include verandahs, pathways, entrances and hallways.
Where is Federation Tiles located?
We are based in Sydney, NSW, and currently offer consultations by phone, email and on-site visits rather than through a showroom. Contact us with your suburb and project details to arrange a suitable time. Samples can be shipped when an on-site visit is not possible.
Do you work with everyday homeowners or just builders?
We work with everyday homeowners, designers, builders and renovators. If you’re planning a new project or restoring a period home, we can help.
Do you supply tiles without installation?
Yes. We manufacture tiles in-house and offer supply-only orders across Australia. Send your delivery postcode, measurements and preferred pattern and border. If you have a local installer, ask them to confirm the layout and quantities before ordering. Delivery is quoted for your order and destination.
Can I request tile samples?
Yes. Ask about samples of the colours and designs you are considering. We can ship samples when an on-site visit is not practical. Compare them beside your brickwork, door and painted trim in the light where the tiles will be laid. We do not currently have a showroom.
What are tessellated tiles?
Tessellated tiles are individual geometric tiles arranged in a repeating floor pattern. Squares, triangles, rectangles and octagons can be combined to create designs such as checkerboard and Octagon & Dot. The main field pattern is often framed by a decorative border.

Tile & Design
Can you help me choose colours and patterns?
Yes. Send a photo of the area, its approximate dimensions and any patterns you like. We can discuss the main pattern, border width, colours and decorative features together. Compare the pattern collection and completed projects, then confirm your colour choices with samples because photographs and screens can look different from the tiles in your own light.
Do you offer custom designs?
We can tailor layouts, borders and colour combinations to your space. Share photos and measurements and we’ll recommend a design that fits.
What styles of tiles do you offer?
We focus on classic federation and tessellated patterns with earthy tones—browns, greens, reds, creams and greys—that blend beautifully with both heritage and modern homes.
Can you match my existing tessellated tiles?
We can assess the closest available options, but an exact match is not guaranteed. Older tiles can differ in size, thickness, colour and finish. Send a photo of the whole floor, close-ups of the pattern and damaged area, and the measurements of an individual tile. We can then discuss a repair, a complementary design or replacement where appropriate.
Installation
Do you provide expert tile installation services?
Yes. We provide federation and tessellated tile installation across Sydney and Newcastle. Include your suburb, photos and measurements when enquiring so we can discuss the preparation and layout. For interstate projects, we offer tile supply and delivery; arrange installation with your local installer and confirm the quantities and set-out before ordering.
How long does tile installation usually take?
Installation time depends on the area, pattern and preparation required. We confirm the expected schedule with your quote, including curing time before the floor can be used.
Do you offer tile or floor removal services?
Yes, we offer tile and flooring removal services as part of your project. This will be included in your quote if needed.
Do you install tiles in the Blue Mountains?
We can discuss supply and installation for Blue Mountains projects. Send your suburb, photos, approximate measurements and preferred timing so we can confirm availability and the work involved. Our main installation areas are Sydney and Newcastle.

How do I get a quote?

Do you charge for on-site quotes?
No, we don’t charge for on-site quotes. We’re happy to visit, assess your space, and provide a detailed quote for free.
What information do you need to prepare a quote?
Send the following details so we can assess your project:
- Your suburb or delivery postcode and preferred timing.
- The approximate length and width of each area.
- Photos of the whole floor, doorways, steps and any damage.
- Your preferred pattern, border and colours, if chosen.
- Any plans or your installer’s tile schedule for a supply-only order.
For a repair, include close-ups and measurements of the existing tiles. An exact match cannot be confirmed from photographs. It is fine to leave undecided design choices as “Not sure”. Start your quote enquiry.
How much do tessellated tiles cost?
The cost depends on the pattern, colours, floor area, border length and any decorative features. A supply-only quote also needs your delivery postcode. A supply-and-installation quote must account for the existing surface, removal or repairs, steps, access and the work needed to set out the design.

Aftercare & Maintenance
How do I clean and maintain my tiles?
Sweep regularly and use a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tiles and grout. Our full-body porcelain tessellated tiles generally do not need sealing. Original heritage tiles and adjoining stone may need different care; contact us if you are unsure which treatment is suitable.
Are the tiles suitable for outdoor areas?
We can help you choose tiles for verandahs, pathways and other outdoor areas. Tell us whether the area is sheltered or exposed to rain, and include photos of any steps. The selected tile, finish, drainage and installation all need to suit the location. Ask us about the product details before ordering.
Do you offer any warranty?
Our tiles and installation are covered by warranties in line with Australian standards. We’ll outline the details in your quote and invoice.
