Federation Tiles Factory

Federation Tiles Factory manufactures federation and tessellated tiles in-house and supplies them Australia-wide. We help you choose tiles, borders and decorative details for your verandah, path, hallway, foyer or bathroom floor, ready for your installer.

Our supply and installation service covers Sydney and Newcastle. Blue Mountains projects are considered subject to availability; please check with us before planning installation. For supply-only projects elsewhere in Australia, ask us about ordering and delivery to your destination.

Ordering tiles for a bathroom, hallway or foyer

Tessellated patterns can also form part of an indoor floor design. Send a measured sketch showing doorways, thresholds and the full perimeter. For a small bathroom, the border width can make a substantial difference to the space left for the main pattern.

Ask your installer to check the tile thickness against adjoining floors and to confirm the selected tiles are suitable for the intended use. For a bathroom, agree the wet-area preparation, waterproofing and installation scope with them before ordering. Start with our pattern collection and border designs, then request samples to compare at home.

Choose the pattern, border and colours together

Start with our tessellated tile patterns, then compare border designs. A border changes the space available for the main pattern, so consider the complete layout when choosing tiles for a narrow path or a wider verandah.

Explore the colour range and encaustic-style feature tiles alongside your chosen pattern. If you want a decorative feature, include its EN code and preferred size in your enquiry. Our project gallery shows how patterns and borders look across finished floors.

What to send for a supply-only quote

  • Your delivery suburb and postcode, plus your name, phone number and email.
  • Photos of the whole area and a sketch with the length and width of each section.
  • Details of curves, doorways, columns, steps or other changes in the layout.
  • The pattern name, preferred colours, border choice and any decorative tile codes.
  • Your intended project timing and whether your installer has confirmed the layout and quantities.

Send your installer’s tile schedule or measurements if you have them. Include border lengths and corners where known. Ask your installer to confirm quantities, cuts and spare tiles before ordering.

Prefer to sketch your project first? Download the optional project worksheet (PDF, 2 pages) for measurements, a layout sketch and photo notes. You can still enquire without completing it.

Compare samples before choosing colours

We can ship samples when an on-site visit is not practical. Compare your shortlisted colours beside the brickwork, paint and other finishes, in the light where the floor will be installed.

Screen images are a useful starting point, but they cannot confirm an exact colour match. For a repair or extension, send close-up photos and the dimensions and thickness of the existing tiles. Matching older tiles needs a closer assessment.

Discuss delivery and installation timing

Include your postcode, order details and required timing so we can discuss delivery arrangements and current availability. Ask us to confirm the delivery cost and expected dispatch timing for your order before committing to an installation date.

For a supply-only project, your local installer will need to assess the site and confirm the preparation, set-out and installation requirements. Share the selected pattern, border and tile details with them as part of that planning.

What affects a supply-only quote?

Your quote covers the chosen pattern, colours, field tiles, borders, corners and decorative features, plus delivery arrangements. Sending these details helps us quote the complete selection.

Before finalising your measurements, see our tile measuring and quote-comparison guide. It explains why two floors of the same area can need different border quantities.

See patterns and borders together in real projects

Use these photographed projects to compare a simple checkerboard field with a more detailed verandah pattern. Look at how the border meets curves, posts and surrounding materials, then discuss the layout for your own space and installer.

You do not need a finished design to get started. On the quote enquiry form, leave undecided pattern, border or encaustic choices as “Not sure” and tell us which project you like. Include your suburb and approximate dimensions; photographs can be emailed to joseph@federationtiles.com.

Ordering tessellated tiles for an interstate project

We supply tessellated tiles from Sydney to Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and elsewhere in Australia. Send your delivery postcode, design and measurements so we can confirm supply and freight.

Arrange installation with a local installer if the project is outside our installation service area.

Before ordering, have your installer check the dimensions, pattern repeat, border widths, corners and tile thickness.

Ask for each shape, colour and finishing piece to be listed in the quote, with quantities, delivery and any allowance for cuts or spare tiles.

Compare the complete delivered tile order

Compare suppliers using the same measured layout and delivery postcode. A field-tile price per square metre does not show the full cost of a floor with borders, corners, decorative inserts and freight.

  • Complete design: ask each supplier to quote the same field pattern, colours, border width, corners and feature tiles. List any alternative separately.
  • Quantities: compare the number and sizes of pieces, including agreed cuts and spares. Have your installer check the schedule before ordering.
  • Product details: confirm dimensions, thickness, material, finish and intended use. For an exposed outdoor area, ask what suitability and slip-resistance information is available.
  • Delivered total: compare the full order price, GST, freight, any sample charges and delivery or unloading requirements for your address.
  • Timing: confirm current availability, expected dispatch and delivery separately. Check these before booking installation.
  • After delivery: ask how to check the order on arrival, report damage or missing pieces, and resolve product questions. Confirm the applicable terms and any written warranty before paying.

We manufacture tiles in-house and supply Australia-wide. Send your plan and postcode so we can discuss the complete order. If you also need installation in Sydney or Newcastle, compare our supply and installation service.

Can new tiles match an existing heritage floor?

Send an overhead photo, close-ups and a photo with a ruler beside an undamaged tile. Include its dimensions and thickness where accessible, the repair size and your postcode.

Old tiles can differ in size, colour, finish and wear. Photos cannot guarantee an exact match. Check the proposed replacement against samples before ordering.

For a whole new floor, start with our tessellated pattern collection. For a repair or extension, send the existing floor details first so we can discuss whether a close match or a complementary design is more practical.
