This Drummoyne verandah project by Federation Tiles Factory pairs the Nottingham tessellated tile pattern with a Windsor border. The colours are charcoal, oatmeal, red and white. The photographs show the finished floor beside the home’s red brickwork, pale timber posts and decorative ironwork.

Project details

• Location: Drummoyne, Sydney
• Area: front verandah
• Pattern: Nottingham
• Border: Windsor
• Colours: charcoal, oatmeal, red and white

How the pattern and border work together

Oatmeal shapes give the Nottingham field a lighter centre, while charcoal, red and white create contrast through the smaller geometric details. The Windsor border frames the floor and follows the change in the wall line below the windows.

The close-up views show the relationship between the main pattern, the border and the verandah’s edges. The wider photographs show how the four colours sit beside the brickwork, painted posts and adjoining paving.

Planning a similar tessellated verandah

Start with the Nottingham pattern and Windsor border, then compare tile colour samples beside your own brickwork and paint. The same colours can look different in sun, shade and photographs.

Send the verandah length and width, photos of the whole area, and details of posts, wall returns, steps and door thresholds. Those details help us plan how the pattern repeat and border will fit your floor. Preparation, quantities and price need to be assessed for your own site.
